Dale Steyn claimed the man of the series award for his 14 wickets as South Africa completed their second successive demolition of Bangladesh in Chittagong to win the series 2-0.
Bangladesh were bowled out in their second innings for just 119 after following on from being dismissed for 259 in reply to South Africa’s first innings 583-7 declared. Steyn claimed 3-35 second time round but was upstaged by spinner Robin Peterson, who took his first five-wicket haul in Tests with 5-33.
Unlike the first Test, which was a more competitive affair for the first three days, South Africa dominated this game from start to finish. After Winning the toss skipper Graeme Smith (232) and Neil McKenzie (226) put on a world record Test opening stand of 415, which set them up for a comfortable win thereafter.
Smith was voted man of the match for his innings – his 14th Test hundred - that spanned 277 balls and set the momentum for the game.
The teams now play a three-match one-day series starting on the same ground on Sunday, after a practice game Friday. Smith told his Bigstarcricket diary recently that most of the senior players would be rested for those matches.
